Day of Action

Thursday 21st October

A very pedestrian protest!

Not only were the signs back on display in Furzehill but many residents were seen walking up and down the road during the day.  It was clear that some motorists had no appreciation that this is a residential area and were not allowing for the presence of pedestrians.

As experienced in previous surveys, there was a significant number of heavy goods vehicles travelling through the hamlet - certainly not the type or volume of traffic acceptable on a country lane.

The number of volunteers who turned out on the day certainly showed the strength of feeling about the current situation.

The day started out as normal with goods vehicles and trade vehicles thundering through our hamlet but as the day wore on it was evident that word had spread and the lorries were taking an alternative route.  Volunteers by the Horton road witnessed this as some lorries that regularly use Furzehill went by on the Horton road.  If they can do it on a protest day why not every day?
