TWO BOGUS WATER BOARD MEN IN EAST DORSET

TWO MEN CLAIMING TO BE FROM THE WATER BOARD ENTERED PROPERTY EAST BOROUGH, WIMBORNE, THROUGH  AN UNLOCKED FRONT DOOR WHILE THE OWNER WAS DISTRACTED.  A LARGE AMOUNT OF CASH WAS TAKEN FROM PURSETHIS WAS DURING THE AFTERNOON OF WED 29 March 2006.

ALSO ANOTHER INCIDENT REGARDING TWO BOGUS WATER BOARD MEN CHECKING WATER PRESSURE IN BINGHAM ROAD, CHRISTCHURCH.  THE OWNER WAS DISTRACTED AND A LARGE AMOUNT OF CASH TAKEN.  THE FIRST PERPETRATOR WAS DESCRIBED AS MALE, WHITE, LATE 30's, 5FT 2" -5FT3" WITH COLLAR LENGTH UNTIDY BROWN HAIR AND MOUSTACHE; POSSIBLY AN IRISH ACCENT, DARK BLUE JEANS WITH A GREEN JUMPER WITH MOTIVE ON FRONT AND BACK.  THE SECOND WAS A MALE, WHITE, 5FT10" SLIM BUILD WITH A DARK COLOURED TOP.  THIS WAS BETWEEN 17:35-17:40 ON 29 March 2006.

I understand the Polish students are back selling pictures in Furzehill. Unfortunately as no translator was available they were cautioned. The so called pencil drawings are actually photocopies which must cost them max. 5p to produce and they are selling them door to door at two for £10. Hence the watch advice not to deal with anyone who calls at the door.

GENERAL MESSAGE FOR CAR OWNERS IN THE AREA:

THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL REPORTS THIS MONTH OF THEFT FROM UNATTENDED MOTOR VEHICLES PARKED IN PRIVATE DRIVEWAYS AND ON ROADS.

THE OFFENDERS ARE INTERESTED IN SATNAV SYSTEMS.

THE POLICE ADVISE THAT THE SYSTEM AND HOUSING ARE REMOVED WHEN LEAVING YOUR VEHICLE.

  • About the Furzehill Watch, and how to join.

This Watch group is part of the Wimborne and Colehill Watch and was formed as part of an initiative by the Police to improve the effectiveness of Home Watch in the local community by co-ordinating activities and improving communication. A committee headed by John Shave is working to develop the scheme.

We seek to ensure an active association providing value to its members. Our objectives are:

To operate an organisation to promote an understanding of the aims and benefits of Home Watch by the community and to recruit as many Members as possible.

To promote all aspects of a community based crime prevention organisation operating in close liaison with the Police.

To foster a caring community spirit such that Members contribute towards the protection of their properties by mutual co-operation and communication.

To promote a greater shared awareness of the crime problems in the community and a better understanding of the practical steps that can be taken to address them.

To assist Members in addressing specific aspects of crime prevention by making accessible relevant products and services at competitive prices.

To research and recommend best practice in key aspects of crime prevention.

To fund the Watch we have set a annual membership fee of £1 minimum for households. The fee is receipted by issuing a membership card. Newsletters are produced quarterly and distributed to all members.

You can join by sending your name, address & phone no. to:

Anita Rigler, Dorset Police HQ, Tel: 226214
